Foraged Raw Vinegar Workshop - July 12, 2025
Join Gabrielle for an immersive, hands-on workshop in Waynesboro VA, exploring the ancient and artful practice of fermenting wild ingredients into live vinegars. Whether you're a fermentation novice or a seasoned DIYer, you'll learn how to safely and creatively turn foraged fruits, flowers, herbs, and even mushrooms into living elixirs that capture the essence of your local landscape.
In this workshop, we’ll cover:
• Ethical foraging and seasonal ingredient selection
• The basics of fermentation science (aerobic and anaerobic fermentation)
• Fermenting vinegar from alcohols including wine, beer, mead, and cider
• How to store, taste, and experiment with your ferments
• Food safety and recommendations for next steps
Our three-hour experience will start with a short foraging walk to collect ingredients, and will conclude with a classroom-style workshop in which you will make your very own vinegar! Each participant will leave with a jar of their own vinegar, which includes a mason jar, fermentation weight, a handmade, reusable fabric lid, plus instructions to continue the process at home. Come away with a deeper connection to your environment, the confidence to start your own wildcrafted ferments at home, and all the tools you need to get started. Class is limited to 6 participants total.
